Chefs cooked deliciously fresh 5 course meals and breakfasts. Lodge clean and relaxing. Staff goes out of way to make each party's visit special. They provided gear for us to use in the rain and bikes to ride. Our 4 days were magical.
This is a friendly lodge with a terrific and most helpful staff. And terrific food!! I loved listening to the rain as I went to sleep at night, and waking up to the astounding breakfast in the nice dining room! They are able to arrange whatever kind of day trip you are hoping for.
We spent two nights at Bear Track Inn in July. The lodge is gorgeous with a soaring ceiling and log construction. The rooms are very nice. The owner was very flexible about rearranging our trip due to COVID. She arranged a private boat tour for us when the Park stopped running tours. This was one of the best places we stayed in Alaska.
Janie helped us handle so many shifts in plans related to COVID including arranging charter planes. Sven was an excellent chef—still salivating over the goat cheese/bacon stuffed mushrooms and I don’t like mushrooms! Angelica was the sweetest server/bartender and conversationalist! Beds are comfy and rooms are clean. Mike has been so gracious helping us get our 40lbs of fish back to GA. Couldn’t have been any happier. Thanks team!
Kudos to Janie and her amazing staff! We were there to celebrate our 45th anniversary and we had no idea how wonderful it would be thanks to all at Bear Track Inn. The inn itself is so pleasant and after learning it's history made it even more special. Our excursions were planned to perfection. And, the food was unbelievable-breakfast, delicious lunches packed for our excursions, dinners that were divine, and a surprise chocolate cake beautifully decorated for our anniversary. We highly recommend the Bear Track Inn to anyone who wants to see beautiful country and be pampered by the nicest people you will ever meet.
My fiance and I had the most amazing time during our 4 night stay at the Bear Track Inn. Janie and her wonderful team were fantastic, ensuring we were well taken care of from the moment they picked us up at the Gustavus airport. Staying at the lodge is different from your normal hotel experience as it is completely customized for you, the guest. Janie and the BTI staff helped to recommend and arrange activities and excursions for us and created a full itinerary based on what we expressed interest in doing. The rooms were very spacious, comfortable, and extremely clean. Best of all was the food! Gourmet dinners and desserts, yummy breakfast spreads, and delicious packed lunches and snacks for our daily outings were all included and really made everything so easy and stress free for us. I highly recommend visiting the beautiful Southeast Alaska and choosing Glacier Bay's Bear Track Inn for your lodging!
I began planning a trip to Alaska in the fall of 2019 for July 2020. I had just about everything booked when Covid hit. The first to cancel was the Glacier Bay Lodge and the Glacier Bay boat tour. When I was looking for an alternative to both I contacted three lodges. This was one of them. Janie personally called me within an hour or two of my initial contact. She told me she couldn’t promise anything because it was so early in July. (Fourth of July to start - with just an overnight stay, boat trip the next morning, then flight back to Juneau that evening to continue our vacation elsewhere in Alaska.) She told me not to send any money yet. I talked to her multiple times after that trying to schedule the boat trip and rescheduling the date due to other Covid related changes. I finally had all details of our two-week Alaska vacation set. The first day we were flying straight to Gustavus from Seattle. The plane we took from Seattle continued on to Gustavus, so there was no concern with missing a connection. The plane door would not shut in Juneau, and the mechanic said it couldn’t be fixed that night. Everyone had to deplane, and there was no alternate transportation to Gustavus until the same flight the next evening. We were stuck in Juneau for the night, and traveling to Gustavus the next evening was out of the question, as that was when we were returning to Juneau. Plans could not be adjusted to allow us a stop in Gustavus and Glacier Bay. It was after 6 pm on our day of arrival when I called Janie to let her know what had happened. She was WONDERFUL! She took care of everything for us. She called the hotel we were staying at the second night to add that first night to our stay. She told us where to have dinner, made the reservation for us, and requested a window seat. She asked me if we were doing the Tracy Arm boat tour, and I told her no. She booked that for us for the next morning. (THAT boat tour was wonderful!) I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Janie took care of it all, and she made no money on it since we never made it to her Inn! I never met her. We never stayed there, so I can’t speak to the accommodations. I’m sure it would have been wonderful. I do know that Janie went above and beyond anything any innkeeper has ever done for a “would be” client. I am looking forward to a return trip to Alaska. We will plan more than just one overnight stop in Glacier Bay, and I look forward to meeting and staying with Janie on that trip! You will not find a more caring and concerned innkeeper who will go out of her way to make your Alaska vacation memorable and your visit to Gustavus/Glacier Bay enjoyable.
